The DGV is an Olympic umbrella organisation, a member of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the only umbrella organisation for golf in Germany recognised by the DOSB.

The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of Germany is the umbrella organisation for all golf professionals in Germany. The professional association was founded in 1927 under the name "Deutscher Golflehrer Verband e.V." and was renamed the PGA of Germany in 1995. The association promotes the professional interests of golf professionals in Germany. The main tasks of the PGA of Germany include supporting and advising its members, the training and further education of qualified golf instructors and the organisation of courses, tournaments and championships for golf professionals.

The Golf Management Verband Deutschland e.V. (GMVD) was founded in Bonn in 1994 as an independent professional association for all those working in golf operations management in response to the need for professionalisation in a still young and emerging golf operations industry. This foundation not only closed a large gap in the professional associations in German golf, but also laid the foundation for a new job profile including qualified professional training.
